Terms of use
In effect from: October 3, 2026
In short: tabhug is a calculator and a shared notebook of expenses. It moves no money and pays for no one. Use it honestly and check the numbers.
1. Who we are and what the service is
tabhug (tabhug.com) is provided by its owner («we»). Contact: [email protected].
tabhug helps a group of people write down their shared expenses and see who should send how much to whom. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
2. What tabhug is not
- It is not a payment service or a bank: tabhug does not transfer money, hold it, or have access to your accounts. A transfer marked as done is only a note the members make themselves.
- It is not financial, tax or legal advice.
- The numbers are only as right as what was entered. Amounts, rates, fees and shares are typed in by the members; check them together.
- Reading a receipt from a photo can be wrong: it can miss an item or mix up an amount or a date. What was read is a draft that has to be checked before it is saved.
- The exchange rate is the official rate on the receipt’s date; it may differ from your bank’s. A rate can be typed in by hand.
3. The account
Creating a room takes an account — an e-mail address is enough. Sign-in is by a code sent to your e-mail, so keep access to it safe.
You may use the service from the age of 16. One account is for one person.
4. The host of a room
Whoever creates a room is its host. The host:
- adds the members and is responsible for those people knowing about it and not minding; writes nothing unnecessary about them;
- invites people by a link or a QR code that works for 10 minutes, and sees to it that it reaches only those it is meant for;
- can end a member’s sign-ins, undo changes, and delete the room with everything in it — for good and for everyone.
Everything in a room is visible to all its members, payment details and photos of receipts included.
5. What you must not do
- add to a room the data of people who object to it, or someone else’s payment details without permission;
- write a card’s expiry date, CVV, passwords or bank codes into payment details or anywhere else;
- upload photos of people, documents or anything unlawful in place of receipts;
- use the service for fraud, extortion or deception;
- guess other people’s codes and links, get around the limits, load the service with automated requests, or try to get into other people’s rooms.
For a breach we may restrict access or delete a room or an account.
6. Your content
What you enter (receipts, names, photos) stays yours. You allow us to store it and show it to the members of the room — for as long as the service needs to work — and to use photos of receipts with what was read from them to improve recognition, as the Privacy policy describes.
How we handle data, where it goes and how to delete it is in the Privacy policy.
7. Availability and «as is»
The service is provided free of charge, «as is» and «as available». We do our best to keep it working and losing nothing, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or close the service; we will announce a closure on the start page in advance, so that you have time to download your data.
If a room matters to you, download a copy of it from time to time («Data and privacy» in the room’s menu).
8. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by data that was entered or read wrongly, for settlements between members, for transfers someone made or did not make, or for what a room’s host or members do.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer in your country.
9. Ending and deletion
You can stop using the service at any time: leave a room, delete a room (if you are its host), delete your account. What is deleted cannot be restored.
Rooms are not deleted by themselves: a room is kept until its host deletes it.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the country where the owner of the service is based. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the law of the country you live in gives you mandatorily, and you may go to court in your own country.
Write to us first — most things are settled by an e-mail.
11. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. The new version, with its date, appears on this page; we will announce significant changes on the start page. If you go on using the service after that, you accept the new version.
This version is in effect from October 3, 2026.
